The framework structure in Strive enables professional standards to be associated with professional goals, evaluation document questions, and professional development courses.
Strive management allows multiple frameworks to be created and associated with the different appraisee types within a district. By tagging goals, questions and courses with different professional standards, an appraiser will be able to analyze data down to the sub-standard component and provide the proper coaching and support for individual employee growth.
Who can create frameworks in Strive?
- A user needs to have the Appraisal Administrator role to create new frameworks in Strive.

Does every appraisal type need a framework?
- While our system can handle as many frameworks as you may wish to use, it is recommended you only create frameworks for appraisee types that need to show growth over the course of an evaluation year. If a particular appraisee type is only evaluated one time in the year, then that appraisee type may not need a framework.
Updating T-PESS framework in Strive
To update your T-PESS framework in Strive so that descriptors exist for the indicators, please copy and paste the following content into the Name fields for T-PESS. The Name field has a character limit restriction, so we modified some of the verbiage to fit within the box.
To create a new framework in Strive
- Select the Appraisal Settings icon at the left.
- Choose the Frameworks link.
- Click the +New Framework button.
- In the Builder, give the New Framework a Name.
- Provide a Description for the framework. Note: This step is optional and will not appear to the end user during framework selection.
- Click Save.
- The Nurse Standards framework now appears in the list of Frameworks and in the Builder.
- Click on the New Domain button at the top to add a new standard component to the framework.
- Enter the Name of the component.
- Click Save.
- The new component will appear in the Builder under the framework title.
- Highlight the name of the framework component before adding a new sub-component.
- Click on the New Dimension button to add a sub-component of the standard to the framework.
- Type the sub-component into the Name field.
- Notes: Keep the name short as the character field is limited. Users will search for this name when attaching it to professional goals, evaluation documents and PD courses.
- The Description field is optional and will not appear to end users.
- Click Save.
- Continue adding sub-components to the framework by highlighting the component and then clicking on the New Dimension button.
- Click Save after adding each sub-component.
- When you have completed your professional framework, you will see all components.
Tag Appraisee Type with Frameworks
Remember to tie each appraisee type to the appropriate framework for tracking purposes.
- In Strive, Appraisal Settings, click on Appraisee Types.
- Select the Appraisee Type and click the Select Framework drop-down menu to choose the framework.
- Click Save to save changes
Tag Workshop Courses by Dimension
- Do not forget to assign dimensions to courses to enhance reporting.
- The same course can be tied to multiple frameworks.
- For example, a course titled Integrating Technology into the Classroom, can be tied to an ISTE framework for technology coaches and a second professional standards framework for classroom teachers.
