During the 2017-2018 school year, we are working hard to bring our customers some pretty serious improvements to our test-authoring experience!
This is a big project, so it will take us a while to get it fully-built. In the meantime, we have come up with a way to share with our customers our progress and give folks a chance to play with the new features as we develop them!
From now until the completion of all the project, customers can go to AwareTest.schoolobjects.com and login using demo account usernames to access tests with the latest version of our in-development features for test authoring.
- For a user with campus-level access:
- username email@example.com
- password newtest123
- For a user with teacher access:
- username firstname.lastname@example.org
- password newtest123
We will be updating this page as more components are added.
|New Test Authoring Features to Try|
|Check out the information breakdown on the left side of the test.||
Learning Standard breakdown
Item type counts
|Try editing the General Information, also on the left side of the test.||No more tabs! Authors can edit the general info in one simple place. (Note: courses can not yet be modified in the new interface, so we've added a few to the demo tests)|
The purpose of our new Question View is to give test authors a place to focus on crafting the best items that will lead them to be able to draw conclusions about student learning.
The focus is on learning standards and complexity. Try building new items or editing some of the ones in the demo tests. Then check out the new Item Bank "shopping" experience.
|Add an item above or below an existing item!||Click one of those + symbols. You'll get three options (but that third one is getting moved). Add a new item, select the item type, pick its complexity if you want, and save your work. One cool new feature for this is that you can change the item type while making a new one in case you make a mistake.|
|Add an item (or bunch of items) from the item banks.||After clicking the +, choose the item bank option. Play around with the filters, the courses, and the Questions/Resource toggle to see what happens. Add items and whole passages to the "shopping cart" on the left and see how easy it is to architect your test. (Please be patient with the loading screens. This is a test server, so it runs slower than what you will have in live production.)|
|Move some of the items around.||You have two options here: click the up and down arrows to bump items one place at a time OR drag and drop them to new locations!|
|Open some of the items for editing.||Click "Edit" and see what you can do! (More parity features coming soon.)|
|Modify the settings of a Selected Response item.||Selected Response items can be Multiple Choice or Multiple Selection. Adjusting these options should flow right along with the rest of item editing without all the old tabs.|
|Change the test's state.||You have Pending, Active, and Archived options. (See note about slowness above) The editable features of items will respect the test's state like they should once the state of the test shows that it has changed.|
Key View gives test authors the ability to fine-tune their tests without having to scroll too much. This is perfect for managing Quick Keys, and it's even better for coming back to a test to adjust answers, item weights, or standards. Toggling between Question View and Key View should give practitioners more flexibility for test customizations.
|Toggle between Question View and Key View.||Try it out and see what you can do. (Standards editing coming soon.)|
