Before using eInstruction CPS with SchoolObjects:aware, your Data Administrator for Aware must first enable support for them within the Configuration Options. For administrator directions, see section "For Admins: Local Assessments."
Administering the Test
When you first login to Aware, go to the Analysis Tab. If a test is available for you to administer, you'll see a "Tests Available" buttonin blue on the top left corner.
The icons to the right side of the test indicate supported administration methods. From left to right, they are “Plain Paper Scanning”, “Enter Answers”, “Response Pad Systems”, and “Online Testing”. The “Response Pad Systems” icon is circled above. If this icon does not show up for the test, then eInstruction support has not been enabled for it.
Select the test, then select the periods or groups of students you want to administer the test. Then click the "Use Response Pads" icon at the bottom.
After clicking “Use Response Pads”, a pop-up window will appear, where you will select “eInstruction” from the Vendor Drop-down list, and then click “Administer”.
This will open up a download prompt for a .soei file. Click “Save”, and choose a location for this test on your local hard drive.
You now have the CPS Administration file you’ll use with the SchoolObjects CPS Dashboard Software.
Installing the SchoolObjects CPS Dashboard Software
Before a teacher can use the eInstruction devices with Aware, you’ll need to have both the eInstruction software and the SchoolObjects CPS Dashboard utility installed on your computers.
The setup file can be located at:
The SchoolObjects CPS Dashboard tool has been tested with and requires at least versions 6.70.x of the eInstruction Device Manager and CPS software. Exact versions used for testing are shown in the image below, found by going to eInstruction Device Manager -> Help -> About
Using the eduphoria! SchoolObjects CPS Dashboard Tool
Once the SchoolObjects CPS Dashboard Tool has been installed, you can run it from the Start Menu by going to Start Menu -> All Programs -> ”eduphoria! SchoolObjects” -> ”CPSDashboard.” You will first be prompted for the location of the .soei CPS Administration file you created in an earlier step.
After selecting the file, you will then be presented with the CPS Device Test Settings screen. This screen allows you to assign the devices to your students. You can use the default “Auto-Assign” settings, or you can change which clicker ID is tied to which student, just as long as each ID is unique and only used once.
After clicking “Next”, you’ll then see the test administration screen (Figure below). The top row shows all of the eInstruction devices, with the unique clicker ID up at the top. The bottom number within these boxes represents the question the student is currently on.
The rows of numbers at the bottom of the screen indicate the overall progress with the test. Each row represents a different student, and the bars going across are segmented by the number of questions on the test. When a bar reaches 100%, that student has finished answering all the questions.
To begin administering the test, click “Start”. Note that there is a timer function as well which can be used to automatically stop the test after a certain amount of time has passed.
Example: Student with Clicker #1 has just answered Question #5, and it’s a 10 question test, hence the 50% progress for Clicker 1 at the bottom of the screen.
After you click “Stop” to stop testing, you’ll see the following prompt:
If you answer “Yes”, you can then proceed to upload the results to your SchoolObjects site. Below is the “Upload Results” screen of the wizard. You would fill in the URL of your SchoolObjects server as well as the username and password you use to log into your SchoolObjects site.
Once you fill in the relevant information and click “Upload”, you should see a “Results uploaded” status at the bottom left of the wizard, as shown below:
You may then click “Finish” to close out of the CPS Dashboard utility. Congratulations! You should see your results in Aware shortly.
