Before using SMART Response Systems (SRS) with SchoolObjects:aware, your Data Administrator for Aware must first enable support for the SRS within the Configuration Options. For administrator directions, see section For Admins: Local Assessments.
Administering the Test
When you first log into Aware, go to the Analyze Tab. If a test is available for you to administer, you'll see a Test Available button in blue on the top left corner.
The icons to the right of each test indicate supported administration methods. From left to right, they are Plain Paper Testing, Enter Answers, Response Pad Systems, and Online Testing. The Response Pad Systems icon is circled above. If this icon does not appear for the test, then SMART support has not been enabled for it.
Select the test you want to administer, then select the periods or groups of students you want to take the test. Next, click the Use Response Pads icon at the bottom. After clicking Use Response Pads, a pop-up window will appear, you will select SMART from the Vendor drop-down list, and then you will click Administer. This will open a download prompt for an .sos file. Click Save, and choose a location to store this test on your local hard drive.
You now have the SMART Administration file you’ll use with the SchoolObjects SMART Response Connector Software.
Installing the SchoolObjects CPS Dashboard Software
Before a teacher can use the SMART Response devices with Aware, you’ll need to have both the SMART software and the SchoolObjects SMART Dashboard utility installed on your computers.

Download this software to your computer so that you have a shortcut on your desktop.
Using the eduphoria! SchoolObjects SMART Response Connector
Once the SchoolObjects SMART Response Connector has been installed, you can run it from the shortcut.
Once open, choose Administer a Test from the SMART Response Connector.
Browse for and then select the .sos file (the one you downloaded earlier) to upload to the SMART Response Connector.
Choose the .sos file (the one you downloaded earlier) to upload to the SMART Response Connector.
Click Start Test in the lower right corner when you are ready to begin administering the test.
The SMART Response Connector will show all of the students assigned to take the test.
Students will log into the SMART Response device using their Student IDs (*shown in the Student ID column). Individual student progress with how many questions each student has answered will be monitored by the progress bars in the Progress column. Once all students have completed the test, click Stop Test to end the test administration. All students will be stopped from entering answers.
After stopping the test, click Next. Enter the information into the Upload Responses screen. Your server URL is the same web address you use to access eduphoria! in your district. Once you enter your user name and password, check the box Remember me on this computer so you won't have to do this every time. Click Upload Now.
Once test results have been uploaded, you can view the results in the Analyze tab in Aware.
