Enabling eInstruction Device Features in Aware
Aware supports integration with the eInstruction CPS Pulse, CPS Spark, and CPS IR devices. Before using the eInstruction devices with Aware, you must first enable support for them within Aware. This can be done by a user with the Aware “Data Administrator” Role by going to the Analyze tab in Aware, then selecting the Configuration Options button at the bottom left side of the window. Next, select the Testing tab. A Data Administrator can select the appropriate Third-Party Response Systems for your district. Select Save when complete.
Enabling eInstruction Devices on an Individual Test
The test that you would like to administer with the response systems must have eInstruction support enabled as well. This happens automatically for Teacher tests after eInstruction features are enabled, as seen in the process above. Teachers who create and administer their own tests can use the devices without worrying about the step below. They can skip to next section labeled “Administering the Test”.
Enabling eInstruction Support for a District or Campus Test
A District or Campus Administrator can access the test using the campus or district assessments by navigating to the Assessments tab of Aware and selecting the test. Then, the administrator may check the settings on both the “Students” and “Administrations” tab. The settings on the “Students” tab determine which teachers will be able to administer the test. In order for a Campus- or District-wide test to be available for teachers to administer with the eInstruction devices, the test meet all the following criteria:
1) The test is linked to the teacher directly, or a course that the teacher teaches
2) The test must have Response Pad Testing enabled
3) The test must be in “Active” state
4) The current date must fall within the test’s “Start” and “End” administration dates
For #1, the “Students” tab of the test editor is selected, and then the answer sheet generation method is chosen to link the test to a particular course or teacher. All options are valid here except for printing to an entire grade level or to an entire campus. This is because Aware would not know which teachers in the students’ schedule you would want to link the test to.
In addition, Campus and District Administrators must be sure the test’s state is set to “Active” in the upper right corner.
Lastly, the Student Response Pads option should be selected in the Test Available settings, where the correct vendor may be chosen.
