Coding Courses

When new courses are imported into Eduphoria from your SIS import, Eduphoria Managers will need to assign a subject to the courses. Coding the subject information for courses will need to be done anytime a new course is added into your SIS import.  We recommend checking for new courses at the beginning of each year. Coding Courses impacts building assessments and data analysis in Aware. 

1. Open the Management Application.
2. Select the Roster tab
3. Select the option to Set Subject Information

You will see all of your imported courses listed. Any course that does not have a subject assigned with show N/A listed under the course title. Optional Step: If a large number of pages of courses are listed, you may find it beneficial to choose a specific campus by clicking on the the Select Schools option. Selecting a particular school will filter the courses listed to courses importing for that campus only.

• • • You have several filtering combination options to select courses to assign a subject.
    •  Start by choosing to select courses by a Course Title or Course Number.
    • Then choose to use an option like Equals, Contains, Starts With, etc.
    • Type the criteria into the text box.
    • Select the subject from the drop down list 
    • Click Apply

 Filtering recommendations for specific scenarios

If this is first time you are setting subject information and none of your courses have a subject assigned, use the following combinations to mass assign a subject to courses. 

• Course Title + Contains Math would allow you to set the subject for any course title containing the word Math to Mathematics.
  • Course Title filtering doesn't work as well for all subjects. EX: using the word Science and the subject Science would assign the subject Science to courses including those like Agricultural Science.
• Course Number + Starts With, Ends With, or In Range is an excellent way to mas assign a subject if courses in your district are strategically numbered. If all Math course numbers in your district start with 04 then using Course Number + Starts With  04 would allow you to assign Mathematics to all Math courses.

If you are setting a subject for a single course or a handful of different courses, the following options will work the best.

• Course Number + Equals with the exact course number.
• Course Title + Equals with the exact course title. 

If you want to change or update the subject assignment for a course, check the box next to Reset the Subject for Courses that are already Coded, then filter by using the exact course number or title.
