Only teachers who are included in at least one Teacher Team can create Team Tests. The details of making and editing a test will not be covered here, so please reference the Teacher Test article for more information.
Quick Guide:
- Navigate to the correct assessment in Aware.
- In the Administration tab of the assessment, select Share with Team.
Illustrated Guide:
Step 1: To create a Team Test, first create a Teacher Test by clicking the Create a New Blank Test option near the bottom left of the Assessments tab in Aware.
It is up to the test author to determine how much of the Teacher Test to complete before converting it to a Team Test. Some teachers will have several Teacher Tests from previous years that have been completed already; these Teacher Tests can be converted into Team Tests, as well.
Note: Once a Teacher Test is converted into a Team Test, it is no longer a Teacher Test. Teachers who wish to keep versions of Teacher Tests should make copies and convert only one of the copies. For more information about the Copy an Existing Test option, refer to the Teacher Test article.
Step 2: To convert a Teacher Test into a Team test, click the Share with Team button under the Administration Tab.
A menu appears and asks the test creator to Select a Team and Select New Campus-level Test Type from the lists. Make the proper selections and click Convert Test to Team Test.
Note: Only select a Test Type that your district or campus has agreed should be used for Team Tests. Some districts include Test Types with names like "District Benchmarks" that are meant to be used for other types of assessments. District Aware managers are able to set the Test Types to assist with this process.
Test State
Team Tests have three states:
- Pending - In the Pending state, Team Tests can be edited by any one member of the team at a time. No editing limits exist while in the Pending state.
- Active - In the Active state, Team Tests can still be edited unless answer documents have been printed or students have started taking the test online. Once this happens, the only edits to the test that can take place are correct answer changes, learning standard alignment, item weight, and rescoring (Teacher Tests, by comparison, also behave like this but are always Active when they are created.)
- Archived - Archiving a test does not delete it or its data, but it does clean up unscored answer documents and prevents the test from being administered again. Teacher Tests can be archived, but because of the nature of their administration features they do not ever have to be. Team Tests should be archived before the next school year.
Advanced and Administration Tabs
Similar to Teacher Tests, Team Tests have an Administration tab that includes some administration options. The Administration tab includes options to format online testing, rescore a test, delete answer sheets and clear all answer responses.
Select Rescore if
- the satisfactory or advanced level needs to be changed.
- the key needs to be corrected.
- question weighting needs to be changed.
- the question needs to be associated with a different SE or learning standard.
Options exist to Delete Answer Sheet for an individual student or Clear Answer Documents for all students.
- By Student
- If someone accidentally scans a student's answer document, remove the score by
- clicking the Delete Answer Sheet button,
- selecting the student's name from the list and
- choosing Remove.
- After removing a student's answer document, the document cannot be rescanned because the code at the bottom of the answer document becomes invalid.
- Note: Use this feature with caution!
- If someone accidentally scans a student's answer document, remove the score by
- All answer documents
- If an element of the test needs to be changed (e.g. a question needs to be added or removed), all answer documents can be cleared so that the test can be changed. By clearing answer documents, all student scores associated with the test are deleted. Any answer documents printed prior to clearing the answer documents need to be reprinted because all answer documents previously printed become invalid.
- Note: Use caution when clearing all answer documents!
Unlike Teacher Tests, Team Tests have an Administration tab. Because Team Tests are meant to be used for common assessment purposes, they require a testing window. Test creators will set this window on the Administration tab. The rarely used option option to upload a data file of results also exists on this tab. See the article Importing Test Scores for more information.
