Guidance for Districts Seeking a Waiver
Here are some actions Eduphoria districts have taken, and that we recommend, to implement waiver documentation in the educator and staff evaluation process:
- Enable electronic signatures
- Create a waiver form and tie it to their staff evaluation processes
- Use a waiver form we provided in Eduphoria Community (see below)
Please also read the “Texas Education Agency's Guidance on Educator Evaluation” document, which is located on the TEA COVID Resource site under Staff & Educator Issues, as well as these TASB articles. The TEA's document is updated regularly and the link changes. These documents provide guidance on the evaluation process during the COVID-19 shutdown.
Evaluation Waiver Form
A waiver template is available in the Eduphoria Community titled "* COVID-19 Evaluation Waived" that can be used to track reasons why an evaluation was not provided for staff. This is an optional template if your district decides to complete a form for record-keeping in the evaluation process. To access the template, follow these steps:
- Access Strive --> Settings --> Appraisal Settings
- Select Eduphoria Community! and click on the green REFRESH button.
- Open the Summative folder and select * COVID-19 Evaluation Waived.
- Click Import Template to import a copy for your use. Once imported, the document needs to be attached to your evaluation process steps.
Guidance for Districts Continuing with Summative Documents
Here are some actions Eduphoria districts have taken to implement summative evaluations in the educator and staff evaluation process:
- Enable electronic signatures
- Appraisers can access the panel in the Summative document to inform scoring and comments.
- Scoring of Domains 1-3 of T-TESS: If you are NOT scoring domains 1-3, consider turning off the “Import existing evaluation data when Summative is created” option in the Summative template options tab. This will ensure that the existing scores do not carry over to the Summative document. Otherwise, you must clear the scores for domains 1-3 if you import existing evaluation data.
