The Eduphoria LockDown Browser for Chromebook is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment. When students use the locked browser to access an assessment, they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications. Students are locked into an assessment until it is submitted for grading.
The Eduphoria LockDown Browser for Chromebooks is a Chrome app that can only be run in kiosk mode when the Chromebooks are centrally managed with Chrome Device Management.
Any testing support that functions on Chromebooks will function with LockDown Browser enabled.
Installing the Eduphoria App for Chromebook
- Log in to the Google Suite admin console at https://admin.google.com.
- Select Devices, then Chrome Management under Device Settings.
- On the next screen, select App & Extensions, then select the KIOSKS tab.
- Hover over the yellow circle with the + sign, then select Add Chrome app or extension by ID.
- Enter the Eduphoria App ID: hjemhocjgfbcocdjijomgphfkkjpjalk and then select Save.
- In Kiosk Settings, copy the following JSON block into the Policy for extensions input field, where the value is the starting URL for your school's student login page (reference the second bullet below):
- { "DefaultServiceUrl" : { "Value": "https://yourdistrict.schoolobjects.com//Aware/OnlineTesting?org=customerkey" } }
- To locate the correct URL above, log in to Aware and navigate to an active assessment. Under the Administration tab, there is a Student Login URL. We have recently changed Student Login URLs in Aware, so be sure your administrators have updated your district’s Student Login URL link. Copy and paste it into the URL space mentioned above.
- { "DefaultServiceUrl" : { "Value": "https://yourdistrict.schoolobjects.com//Aware/OnlineTesting?org=customerkey" } }
- Select Save. The Eduphoria app will now appear on the login page of the managed Chromebooks.
