Creating an Inline Choice Question
To create an interactive response question, begin by either creating a new test in Aware or navigating to an existing test. TEA suggests hot text for use in mathematics, reading, language arts, and social studies assessments, but hot text is available for any assessment. Inline choice follows TEA's examples and may be used in conjunction with text, images, and tables.
Note: Creating an interactive response question eliminates the possibility of printing the test. A reminder message will appear when an interactive response question is added to an assessment. Eduphoria recommends having two separate tests: an online version created purposefully with interactive questions, and a paper-based version for standard testing.
1. Select the + icon to add a new question.
2. Select Interactive Response from the question type options.
3. Select Inline Choice from the question type options.
4. Construct the Inline Choice question. Use the Add Placeholder Response button to indicate where the selection box should be placed within the question. Select the Continue button to move forward.
5. Use the interaction builder to designate the answer choices and a correct answer.
Creating & Editing Equations
Add answer choices, then use the math button to enter the desired equations. Do not edit the text that appears after selecting update; use the question preview area on the left side of the screen to determine if the question is formatted correctly, not the encoded text on the right. Note: As long as the equation looks correct on this third/final question preview screen, the equation will appear correctly to students. Equations occasionally appear incorrectly formatted on step 2 (construct your question).
Student Experience
Students will see the inline choice question during online testing.
Data Analysis
Question type is available as a column for data views, located in the Responses folder.
This column will show the question type and in which question number the type is located.
Interactive questions will be indicated in the data analysis quick view Individual Student Scores next to the scores for each of those questions. Teachers may view the exact question in the enter answers screen and modify student answers if needed.
Note: For district and campus level tests, the Questions teachers can answer and score option must be set to All Questions for editing privileges.
